She’s known for portraying formidable queen regent Cersei Lannister on the HBO smash hit Game of Thrones.
However, behind all of that confidence, 41-year-old Lena Headey revealed she has struggled with her share of anxiety and depression.
‘I think some people’s brains are just wired that way if you’re a thinker,’ the mom-to-be candidly shared.
The outspoken star opened up in the issue about one of the toughest times in her life: when she got divorced from musician Peter Loughran – the father of her five-year-old son Wylie – after six years of marriage.
‘It’s tough. There’s a lot of hurt and sadness and disappointment,’ she shared. ‘Grief. Massive grief. It’s a mourning process, and yet nobody’s died.’
The pregnant actress has kept any subsequent relationships a secret, and has yet to reveal the father of her second child. ‘I like to keep my personal life private,’ she said.
Lena, also known for her role in 300, then spoke about a history of depression, but noted: ‘I haven’t had a spell in a long time.’
‘I think some people’s brains are just wired that way if you’re a thinker,’ she continued. ‘People who never get anxious always amaze me.’
‘The world could be breaking up and they’re saying, ‘Everything’s fine!’ Getting older and having kids, you learn how to become less serious about it all.’
Lena has announced that she will be taking some time away from acting to sort out her new child and start some new ventures. As she said in a recent interview, “It’s time for a new chapter and I’m very excited”. We wish her the best!
